History

St. Nicholas Day history goes back to IX century. In Constantinople it was treated as a perfect preparation for Christmas. It officially became a Catholic Christmas in 1222. It evolved, especially in Eastern Europe culture. In XIX century it was a work-free day in Poland. It stopped being an official Catholic holiday in 1969, and from that time it is just a “memory holiday”.

St Nicholas Legend

History of St. Nicholas became so popular, because of a legends that were spread about his character. One of the most famous is that about him saving virginity of his neighbor three daughters. St. Nicholas was said to be a wealthy, but religious man. His neighbor, was on the other side cocky and was laughing about how Nicholas is willing to share his wealth with others. Because of that, God decided to punish Nicholas neighbor and take all of his money away. He became bankrupt, and could not afford to get his children married. As a father of three daughters, he made a decision to give them to a prostitution house. When Nicholas saw that, he decided to bring money enough for the dowry of every daughter. Each night, he would bring enough money for one daughter. After two daughters were granteed with money, their father decided to wait at night and see who is giving the cash. What can this day offer you?

The situation here, is similar to that from Halloween. Candy, chocolates, fudges and candy bars just awaits you. It’s perfect time to check out Polish confectionary products. I have to recommend Polish chocolate, in this period of time, in Santa form. Enjoy your candy responsibly. Merry Christmas Everyone :)
